How To Box – Episode 1: The Basics

Episode one of the ‘How To Box’ series demonstrates how to create a strong boxing stance, mobilise the feet and goes in-depth with punching technique; realising that every style of boxer is different and it is up to you to find your own style.

Stance: Orthodox = left foot forward; Southpaw = right foot forward

Mobility: Push off of the foot that is furthest away from the direction you aim to travel, maintain balance and finish in the correct stance, always be ready for action.

Punches: Straight punches (jab and cross), hooks, uppercuts, the screw and the bolo. Understand that punches can be thrown to both the head and body, do not neglect the size of the scoring area.
